Lundberg Missing Facts on Global Warming
Kevin Lundberg’s “Lundberg Report” in last week’s Berthoud Recorder demonstrates his desire to continue the George W. Bush practice of basing his positions on blind ideology, rather than on fact. He cited “Christopher Monckton of Brenchley’s article published by the American Physical Society” as evidence of growing scientific rejection of global warming and human impact. He neglected to add the APS comment that accompanied the article: “No remaining scientific body of national or international standing is known to reject the finding of human influence on recent climate.” And if one searches on “Scientific Consensus on Global Warming”, the resulting Google item provides an extensive list of organizations who recognize the reality of the problem, and none who deny it.
Lundberg’s chairmanship of the Republican Study Committee of Colorado — a group that supports, among other things, the recently defeated life-begins-at-fertilization concept — is further evidence of his extreme right wing bias. Lundberg’s typical head-in-the-sand approach to issues will do nothing to encourage intelligent debate about global warming and other serious problems, and clearly will not lead us to workable, rational solutions.
