Penalty kick in overtime lifts Lightning

LOVELAND — Luis Dominguez, Jr.’s penalty kick at 1 minute, 27 seconds of  overtime capped a five-goal rally as the Colorado Lightning evened its record with a 15-14 victory over the Wenatchee Fire at the Budweiser Events Center.

Wenatchee (0-3) led 11-6 before Colorado outscored the Fire 8-3 to send the game into overtime.

Mark Cromie set a PASL-Pro record with five goals. Dominguez and Wenatchee’s Jamie Richards and Junior Garcia scored four goals apiece. Richards’ tripping penalty in the extra session led to Dominguez’s game-winning goal.

The Lightning, which has won two straight, nearly won the game in regulation but a late goal was waived off after it was ruled that the shot crossed the line after the final buzzer.
