Officer Jeremy Yachik will begin his new duties as patrolman with the Berthoud Police Department the day after Christmas. For the last year he has served as Code Enforcement Officer with the BPD while working towards a full-time position doing regular police work.
Previous to coming to Berthoud, Yachik worked as a firefighter, attaining certifications in handling hazardous materials (Haz Mat) and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) response with the Department of Homeland Security. And for the last few years, he has been teaching – training his peers and affiliated agencies in WMD response.
He originally applied for the position of patrolman, and moved his family to northern Colorado from Los Animas County last year. When a spot opened up this fall, he was eager to put in for it.
Yachik brings his considerable training and expertise to his new position with a positive attitude and a great work ethic. “I worked really hard this year, and it has paid off,” he said, noting he’s happy to work and serve in Berthoud.
