Monday, Dec. 15
A silent holdup alarm that went off at 10 p.m. at a local business got police on the scene quickly, but the business appeared to be closed. Apparently, the owner set off the alarm and has now learned the difference between a holdup alarm and a burglar alarm.
Tuesday, Dec. 16
Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies made seven traffic stops on County Road 19 and issued citations to all the motorists. Berthoud Police made five traffic stops, but only one of those motorists was cited, the others received warnings.
A green Dodge pickup truck that was reportedly blocking traffic on south First Street at Weld County Road 1 was gone when an officer arrived.
Police received a phone call complaining of harassment by text message. The cause was apparently the result of landlord/tenant issues.
A caller from Jay Place was concerned about the welfare of a stray Boxer dog running loose in the cold weather. The dog was gone when police arrived.
Wednesday, Dec. 17
Police investigated a burglary on south First Street. The owner found the lock missing from the shop and some items were missing.
Pry bar marks were found on the back door of the Habitat for Humanity Thrift Store but no entry was made.
Thursday, Dec. 18
A dog at large was reported in the 800 block of Longs Peak Ave. The Code Enforcement Officer returned the dog.
A warning was issued for failure to remove snow at the northeast corner of Eighth St. and Mountain Avenue.
A concerned citizen reported two men digging in the roadway at Spartan Ave. and County Road 17. They were not wearing uniforms and there was no identification on the their pickup truck. They were gone when police arrived.
Police were unable to locate two teenagers walking southbound on Fourth Street and cussing at cars.
Friday, Dec. 19
An E. Iowa resident reported that a package delivered by Federal Express was missing from her front porch.
A barking dog in the 300 block of E. Colorado Ave. was quiet when police arrived.
Saturday, Dec. 20
Police responded to three burglar alarms during the day. There were no burglaries in progress at any of the locations.
During a 9 p.m. call, a female driver reported being harassed in an apparent a case of road rage. At one point the harasser got out of his car and hit her car. She reported being very scared and drove to the police station, but did not want to pursue charges.
Sunday, Dec. 21
The Sheriff’s Deputies made three traffic stops on U.S. Hwy. 287 near County Road 8 and issued three warnings.
A warning was issued in the case of a barking dog in the 300 block of E. Colorado Ave.
An audible burglar alarm at Log Cabin Liquors was inadvertently set off by an employee.
