Turner Middle School students dug into their pockets and piggy banks to raise money for the Christmas in Berthoud Fund.
The TMS student council organized a “Penny War” competition, challenging each grade to fill the change jars placed in their classroom and earn points based on the amounts donated.
Students could place bills in other classroom jars to take points away. The competition was a hit with the kids who raised a whopping $1421.14.
Serina Ramos, a TMS counselor and faculty leader for the student council, said it was a big success. “The staff and students were excited about their efforts and teaming together with the community to help families in need during this holiday season.”
