After Alleged Hazing Incident, Anderson Says

Berthoud Homes Narrowly Escape Grass Fire

By Shari Phiel Berthoud Recorder The Berthoud Fire Protection District received a call about a grass/wildland fire southwest of Berthoud just after 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 19. The fire, which could easily be seen from U.S. Highway 287, was just north of County Road 6. Fire crews from Longmont, Hygiene and Mountain View fire departments joined Berthoud crews in battling the flames and had the fire out within a couple of hours. (more…)

A Hero's Farewell

Tearful Berthoud: Thanks, Justin Bauer By Shari Phiel Berthoud Recorder Hundreds of mourners gathered together at Lifebridge Christian Church in Longmont to bid a final farewell to Staff Sgt. Justin Bauer. Approximately 800 family members, friends, classmates, fellow soldiers along with many who had never had the opportunity to meet the remarkable young man filled the church pews to say goodbye. Hands-On Scout

Seventh-grader Alex Sabados of Boy Scouts Troop 6 builds snowshoes with a little help from his dad. The Boys Scouts will participate in the annual "Klondike" in Gould in two weeks. The Klondike is a winter camping trip in which the boys sleep in snow caves and compete with other troops in snowshoe and sled races, as well as other events. TMS Students Rewarded for Kindness

By Laurie Hindman Berthoud Recorder On Friday Turner Middle School held its end of semester “Spirit Assembly,” but before the fun and games began, ten students were presented with Kindness Awards. Students were nominated by teachers in recognition of the students’ consistent demonstration of good character throughout the semester. Ivy Stockwell Annual Carnival and Silent Auction

Ivy Stockwell with host their annual carnival and silent auction on Jan. 24, 2009, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the school. The carnival will have food and games for all ages. Tickets are 25 cents per game. The Silent Auction will have many items donated by local businesses and many gift baskets created by students in Ivy Stockwell classes and organizations.
