The Town of Berthoud has received an award from the Colorado Chapter of the American Public Works Association for the Mountain Avenue project.
Berthoud Public Works Director Tony Huerta submitted the nominations for the project, Town Administrator Jim White said while announcing the award at the Tuesday, Jan. 27 Board of Trustees meeting.
The first phase of the project, in which aging infrastructure was replaced and the road repaved on Mountain Avenue, was completed on Dec. 11, 2008. In addition, the Town also provided new sidewalks while the Berthoud Main Street program provided funding for new streetlights being installed in the downtown area.
Phase One of the Mountain Avenue project cost approximately $2.4 million. The Town received funding and grants to pay for a major portion of the project. The Town also issued $2 million in bonds from its water and wastewater enterprise funds to fund the three phases of the project.
