Library Board Talks Security and Entrance

By Gary Wamsley Berthoud Recorder The library board met on Thursday evening, Jan 22. They will have many important issues to address as they assume operation from the Town of Berthoud. Treasurer Peg Obenhause has gone over the minutes of board meetings going back as far as 1993 in order to determine just what funds belong in the “Building Fund.” Her recommendation was to divide the approximately $130, 000 now allocated into $100,000 in the capital improvement fund and the remaining amount ... Aims Community College Facing Budget Cuts

Fire Beat: Jan. 29, 2009

Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident Activity for Jan 19-25 Monday, Jan.19, 2009 BFPD responded to a grass/wildland fire west of U.S. Hwy 287 and north of County Road 6.  This was a 10- to 12-acre fire that was quickly contained due to the efforts of Berthoud, Longmont, Hygiene and Mountain View fire departments. Jim Schleiger Jimmy (Jim) Schleiger, 55, of Loveland passed away at Pathways Hospice Care Center on Jan. 22, 2009. He was born Oct. 24, 1953 in Fort Collins, Colo. to Donald Eugene and Orvilla Olive (Harbison) Schleiger.  Schleiger fought courageously against multiple myeloma and liver cancer. He faced these two cancers with a positive attitude, great determination and lots of humor.  He will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends, and anyone that came in contact with ...
