House Bill to Create Aims Taxing District

By Sandy Barnes Berthoud Recorder A legislative bill currently under consideration in the State House of Representatives would permit Aims Community College to create a taxing district for Berthoud where a new campus is expected to be built by 2012. If passed, House Bill 1079 sponsored by District 48 Rep. Glenn Vaad would allow the college to bring the taxing district to Town residents for a vote of approval in the next general election. Rimsky-Woods Engagement

Paul and Teresa Rimsky of Berthoud announce the engagement of their son, Brett William Joseph Rimsky, to Bailey Ann Woods. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Dan and Janet Tahir, of Parker. She graduated from Chaparral High School in Parker in 2004; and from the University of Wyoming in May 2008, with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 BFPD responded to a reported vehicle fire located on Weld County Road 7 and E. Highway 56.  Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009 BFPD responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. The fire was extinguished before reaching the passenger compartment. There were no injuries. Sunday, Jan. 18 Another case of hit and run was reported in the 1300 block of N. Fourth St. It appears the suspect vehicle struck the driver’s side rear fender of a 1998 Toyota Camry while backing of the adjacent parking space and left the scene without leaving any identifying information. Monday, Jan.19 A resident of the 800 block of Bruce Ave. reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his Cobra radar detector which was in plain sight on the dash.
