Lady Spartans' State Hopes Hang in the Balance

By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder WINDSOR — Just as quickly as the Berthoud Lady Spartans opened this year’s 4A Northern Conference girls’ basketball tournament with hope of pulling off an upset or two, they found themselves scrambling to keep their state playoff hopes alive. BHS Students Make Splash at State Swim Meets

By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder If Brandi Peter’s first appearance at the 4A state swimming championship is any indication, then she’s got a bright future ahead of her. The Berthoud High School freshman, and swimmer for Mountain View High School, finished 16th in the 1-meter diving competition at Mountain View High School in Loveland on Saturday. Arnold Shines On

By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder She’s already been named All-State. She was the Berthoud Recorder’s Volleyball Player of the Year in our Fall Sports All-Star squad. And, now, Kelley Arnold has been recognized again. Arnold, who helped Berthoud to a 27-2 record this past season and a berth in the 4A state tournament, was named to PrepVolleyball.com’s All-America team last week. Hazing Leaves 'Black Eye' on Athletics

High School coach said he never had to deal with an incident such as the hazing case now hanging over Berthoud High School. “I never had a case. Berthoud Boys Push State Hopes Up Against the Wall

By Taylor Lee Berthoud Recorder GREELEY — A second matchup against the Northridge Grizzlies two days after the previous one didn’t come any easier for the Berthoud Spartans boys’ basketball team Thursday in the first round of the 4A Northern Conference tournament. Eagles Suffer Rare Home Sweep

LOVELAND — Mississippi struck for three goals in just over three minutes during the first period and scored a 5-1 victory over the Colorado Eagles on Saturday night at the Budweiser Events Center. The loss was the second in as many nights to the RiverKings, the first time a team had swept back-to-back home games from the Eagles since the end of the 2005-06 regular season.
