Larimer County is conducting a study to review and potentially revise its existing regulations for horse business facilities. One of the ways the County will be gathering input during the study process is through the efforts of a Working Group made up of members of the public. A formal application process has been announced to select participants for the Horse Business Facility Regulations Study Working Group. The application deadline is before 9 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009.
Applications are currently available online at: http://www.larimer.org/horses/workingGroupApplication.cfm
Or, pick an application up at
* Rural Land Use Center, 3rd floor, 200 West Oak Street, Fort Collins
* Board of County Commissioners Office, 2nd floor, 200 West Oak St., Fort Collins.
Two recent public meetings were held on Feb. 17 and 19 which launched the Study. Some individuals attending these meetings expressed interest in being considered for appointment to the Working Group. The Working Group application process is now being formalized.
The Working Group will consist of individuals representing the following interest groups:
* Current Business Owners/Operators
* Representatives from Organizations/Associations/Facility Users
* Neighboring Properties Representatives
* Equine Professional Service Providers
Meetings of the volunteer Working Group will be held monthly and scheduled in the evenings. They will begin in late March and continue through the summer and fall. The Working Group will need to adhere to the work program in order to complete its charge and offer any recommendations by the end of the year to the Board of Larimer County Commissioners.
