Obituaries: LeRoy Graves, Willard Graves

LeRoy Graves LeRoy Graves of Hygiene died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 92 years old. Born in Longmont to Charles Roscoe and Mabel Meta (Molsberry) Graves, he grew up on a farm west of Berthoud where his family moved when he was very young. All his life he loved farming and when people remarked on observing his overalls that he must be a farmer, he would reply “and proud of it.” Graves graduated from Berthoud High School in 1934 and married Ruby Hall on Dec. 29, ... Police Beat: Feb. 12, 2009

Tuesday, Feb. 3 Police assisted Berthoud Fire at 211 Versaw Ct. Fire investigators said the fire was most likely caused by a faulty boiler. Two employees got out of the building without injuries. Police responded quickly to a call of suspicious circumstances at Berthoud High School. Apparently several juveniles may have been boxing and were observed putting the gloves in a bag after which they ran away. Wednesday, Feb. 4 Police responded to two cold thefts. Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident Activity for Feb 2-8 Feb. 2, 2009- BFPD responded to E. Highway 56 to assist with a controlled burn. Feb. 2, 2009- BFPD assisted with a walk-in patient who had accidentally cut his left hand/wrist area. When TVEMS arrived the patient was loaded for transport. Letter to the Editor: Feb. 12, 2009

Supporting Berthoud I am writing this because I’m concerned about the town of Berthoud. In the past few weeks, we’ve lost two more businesses (that I know of) with the Wayside Inn and the Video Library both shutting their doors. I’ve been disappointed that neither of our “local” papers have had any stories about these business closures (maybe I’ll be proven wrong this week). High School Wrestler Charged with Assault **UPDATED**

BFPD Responds to Commercial Fire

Berthoud Fire Protection District responded to a commercial fire alarm at 8:51 a.m. at Rocky Mountain Sustainable Enterprises, a business specializing in converting vegetable oil into fuel for vehicles. There were two employees present at the time of the fire; they sustained no injuries. According to Berthoud Fire Investigator Lee Scott, the cause was accidental due to a  boiler malfunction on the west inside wall of the structure. There was not a sustainable amount of ...
