Odyssey of the Mind

Eight-two Teams get Creative at Problem Solving By Gary Wamsley Berthoud Recorder Berthoud schools fielded five of the 82 teams at the Northern Regional Odyssey of the Mind tournament held on Saturday, March 14 at Berthoud High School. The school was packed with 500 team members, at least one coach per team, over 80 volunteers to help with tournament activities and an untold number of parents and grandparents. (more…)

Trustee Questions Town's Water Leases

By Sandy Barnes Berthoud Recorder “The Town does have one of the most reliable water portfolios on the Front Range,” attorney Paul Zilas told the Town Board at the Tuesday, March 17 meeting when trustees reviewed Berthoud’s water supply and usage. According to Zilas, who serves as water attorney for the Town, last year Berthoud had a net of 2,443 acre feet of water available for delivery, an amount that includes 1,664 acre feet of river water and 586 acre feet of Colorado Big Thompson ... Gifted Youth Learn Photography Skills

By Laurie Hindman Berthoud Recorder      Seven “Talented and Gifted” (TAG) students from Turner Middle School participated in the Thompson School District’s 6th annual photography workshop. The students worked with renowned photographer, Bob Campagna, to create an exhibit entitled “New Perspectives on Colorado.” Campagna has worked with the school district for the last eight years, teaching children to compose and develop meaningful photographs. CollegeInvest Helps Families with Matching Grant Funds

CollegeInvest, a division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, announces its Matching Grant program. The program matches contributions to CollegeInvest’s college savings plans dollar for dollar, up to $500 annually, for qualifying middle- and lower-income Colorado families, subject to the availability of funds. Families may qualify for up to five years — meaning the program can help a family increase their higher education savings by as much as $2,500.   Families must apply ... Full Story

Thompson School District Offers Online Forum for

The Thompson School District has initiated community Internet forums to enable community members to post thoughts and questions about state education issues, the district, or school-related topics ranging from concerns to celebrations in a non-judgmental atmosphere. The forums also include a photo gallery where district or school-related images can be posted for other forum members to view.
