Water District Offers Seedlings

By Jamie Folsom Berthoud Recorder If you have land that’s 2.5 acres or more, The Big Thompson Water District has seedlings for sale to keep your soil in place, and provide protection from noise, wind and snow.   Dirk Banks of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy said the seedling sales program benefits both the water district and those looking to improve their properties. “This program makes it affordable to buy large quantities of useable trees,” he said, noting that although ... Who: Children in age groups 0-3 years (register 11:30 a.m., hunt at noon), 4-6 years (register at noon, hunt at 12:30 p.m.), and 7-10 years (register at 12:30 p.m., hunt at 1 p.m.) Each child registered is entered into drawings for special Easter basket prizes and the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos. Seventh Annual Teen Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

Berthoud Area Shred-A-Thon

Farm Heritage Exhibit Lands at DIA

By Sandy Barnes Berthoud Recorder In the near future, travelers at the Denver International Airport will be able to view an extensive collection of photographs and artifacts reflecting the farming heritage of Berthoud. Tom Vaughan, director of the Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum, is working with a design team to assemble the exhibit, which will be featured on Concourses A and C beginning April 24. Rare Find

Ken Locke of Berthoud examines what he believes is a dead mink he discovered near the west edge of Highway 287. Locke said he worked at a mink farm in Connecticut when he was a teenager and felt pretty confident in his identification. At 23 inches long and three pounds, the animal fits the size description listed on the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) for an adult male mink. Elizabeth Katherine “Betty” Rose, 82, of Berthoud passed away quietly at her home on Friday, March 13, 2009. Survivors include her husband, Russell F. Robert “Bob” Douglas Ramsay Robert “Bob” Douglas Ramsay, 73, of Longmont died at his residence on March 10, 2009.  Bob was a teacher in the Adams District 50 before his retirement. He also resided in Berthoud and Arvada.  No services are scheduled. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services of Longmont.
