Editorial: BERT's Tactics Raise Serious Questions

By Jamie Folsom Managing Editor Questionable at best. The recent moves by the Berthoud Economic Resource Team (BERT) to oust Town Administrator Jim White, and the decision of the Board of Trustees to give them more control over Town staff are questionable for several reasons.   The six individuals who signed a letter of complaint to the Board of Trustees have presented no verifiable evidence to back their claims that White lied to them or has shown “other serious character concerns.” ... Letter from the Publisher: Disinformation and Ethics

After reading the letter from the subcommittee of the Berthoud Economic Resource Team (BERT) to the Town Board, I read the referenced Berthoud Weekly Surveyor article. After that reading and then comparing it to the article that appeared in The Berthoud Recorder, I find that I must question the completeness and accuracy of information being provided by the Surveyor to those involved in this conflict as well as those in the community. I certainly recognize the tactics. During my 30 years of ... Full Story

Molly Deserved Better

By Ralph Trenary Berthoud Recorder News stories rarely stick in my mind for more than a day, and I can’t remember a Colorado story that lingered for over a week. That was before the unspeakable injustice in Woodland Park on Thursday, March 12, 2009. I might just permanently record that date as an onerous “red letter” day in my calendar. My computerized date book will remind me for eternity. In my judgment that’s the duration of penalty that the perpetrator of this crime deserves. If you ... Full Story
