Water System Flushing June 9-11

The Water Division of the Town of Berthoud’s Public Works Department will perform its annual Town-wide water distribution system flushing from Tuesday, June 9, through Thursday, June 11.

This is a complete flush of all of the Town’s water mains to clear the system of loose particles or matter that might be in the system. While these minute particles or matter are not harmful, they can cause discoloration, or an unsatisfactory taste or odor in our drinking water.

This program was initiated in 2005 and has proven very instrumental, in combination with other key improvements to our treatment process, in improving the quality of our drinking water. The results of the process have helped reduce the number of taste, odor or discoloration complaints received by the Town. The Town is constantly striving to improve the level of service and quality of the product delivered to you.

During this process, you may experience brief periods of slight discoloration in your drinking water. Please don’t be alarmed, this is not harmful. Simply let your water run for a few minutes and it should clear up. If it continues, call us at Town Hall at (970) 532-2643 and we will dispatch someone to your location to collect a sample and check to see if there are other problems.

Our staff will be working in or near the Town’s public streets during this project, so please keep an eye out for them and be considerate and courteous to our staff as they perform their jobs through this project. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

— Tony Huerta, Public Works Director, Town of Berthoud
