Obituary: Anton (Tony) Tysdal

Anton (Tony) Tysdal, 93, of Berthoud died early Thursday morning at Windsor Healthcare Center. Tony was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Linn Grove, Iowa to Ole and Marie Tysdal. He served in the Navy during World War II as a gunner’s mate and was at Pearl Harbor shortly after it was attacked by the Japanese. He married Marjorie Kell on March 23, 1944 in Hampton, Iowa. He worked as a conductor for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Iowa and excelled as a carpenter, building their home in Eagle ... Full Story

Anniversary: Rimskys Celebrate 30th

Paul and Teresa Rimsky of Berthoud will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary on June 16. The couple went to Mazatlan, Mexico in April to mark their anniversary. They will renew their vows at All Saints Episcopal Church in Loveland with family and friends. (more…)

Earth & Sky: Moon Near Crown of the Scorpion

These three stars are sometimes called the Crown of the Scorpion.      Scorpius — which now rises in the south-southeastern sky each early evening now — is the constellation of the Scorpion. May the Force Be With You This Summer

Sounders Take Advantage of Mistake, Top Force in

By Taylor Lee Berthoud Recorder LOVELAND — All it took for the Seattle Sounders to upset the Colorado Force’s season-opener was one goal. In the first eight minutes of the May 29 game at Loveland Sports Park, the Force showed great defense by challenging for every ball. Even though the Force’s Lisa Franke was taken down by a hard tackle at the 21-minute mark, she bounced right back into the game to help out her team. Major Challenge Ahead for BHS QB

By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder For Jordan Major, his timing couldn’t have been much worse. Then again, maybe it was just what he wanted all along. The Berthoud High star quarterback has been the focal point of the Spartans football program for the past few years, including back-to-back state playoff runs in 2007 and 2008.
