The day looked to be another scorcher, but several Berthoud women were toughing it out with an hour-long fitness “boot camp” in Bein Park, despite the heat. Fitness coaches Stephanie McClure and Stevie Klein of the Total Body Center led the group through rope pull sled drag sit-ups, push-ups and ball exercises last week.
“We want to help people see their full potential of being healthy,” fitness instructor Klein said. “We integrate nutrition, sports massage, personal training, boxing, weights, and other things all in one place.”
TBC founder and personal trainer Stephanie McClure says that with typical weight loss and fitness systems, people can stop seeing results, which can lead to falling off their routines. By offering a variety of approaches, she says they show “you don’t have to be in a gym. You can mix it up and be able to see change.”
Why the boot camp? “It’s something to prove their making progress,” explained Klein, who has lost 30 pounds since beginning the regular workouts. “It’s one thing to exercise and take classes, and then at the end of the month, you see how far you’ve come. I never in my mind thought I could do this!”
