Estes Park is Top-Rated Mountain Destination in State

For the third year in a row, Estes Park has been named the most popular mountain vacation destination in the state according to “The Colorado Travel Year Study 2008,” a profile of Colorado’s visitors by research firm Longwoods International. The study was released June 18. Obituary: John Raymond Schmidt

John Raymond Schmidt passed away June 23, 2009 in Rohnert Park, California. He was 58 years old. The oldest of seven children, Schmidt was born on Feb. 14, 1951 in Denver to Alban and Mary (Groll) Schmidt. He attended Most Precious Blood and Mullen High School in Denver. John graduated from Cherry Creek High School in 1969. He moved to northern California in 1978. Police Beat: July 2, 2009

Tuesday, June 23 Barking dogs on Cedar Drive prompted a complaint in the early afternoon. The caller said he called the night before about the same dogs. Thistle growing everywhere at N. County Road and Lake Avenue was the complaint. The Code Enforcement Officer was advised. Dogs in the 600 block of Eighth Street were reported to have been barking for an hour and half. The dogs were in a pen in the alley and no one was home, so the officer left a written warning on the front ... Full Story

Fire Beat: July 2, 2009

Monday, June 22 BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Rainbow Lane. After investigation the crew was unable to locate a fire. BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on South County Road 31. No no injuries were involved in this accident. BFPD assisted with a medical call for breathing problems at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported. Berthoud Community Library District is very proud to announce a new feature now available to patrons! In the past, we have sent e-mails informing patrons of books that would be due in the near future.
