Lions Club District 6-NE Governor

The Evening Lions Club met on Thursday, July 2. There will be only one meeting in Aug. 6. The club will return to bi-monthly meetings in September, with meetings on Sept. 3 and 17.

The 12 members attending the meeting decided they should have a picnic with the Lions Lunch Bunch. The picnic is planned for July 23 at the Lions Club Depot. Lions are encouraged to bring family, friends, possible new members and, of course, food.

Other topics of discussion were the area 6NE Cabinet meeting on July 26 and a highway cleanup day on Aug. 1, weather permitting. The highway cleanup will be followed by breakfast. They also planned a pancake breakfast and yard sale fundraiser at the Depot on Sept. 12.

The Lions Committee will soon meet with Berthoud High School staff to renew the contract for the Lions participation at school athletic events.

Several other items were also discussed during the business session; the building rent, the successful Berthoud Day hamburger stand, getting flags for Greenlawn Cemetery and veteran’s graves in order to help Sue Brungardt, the medical loan closet and the Kid Sight Program.

Lions are dedicated to helping people see better, from their sight screening of preschoolers in Berthoud to eyeglasses for those who can not afford them, the Lions are there to help. Between August 2008 and July 2009, the local Lions Clubs spent $3,562 helping those in need to get eyeglasses.
