Fire Beat: Aug. 13, 2009

Monday, Aug. 3 BFPD responded to an accident near Hwy 287 and Highway 60 involving three vehicles. Two vehicles sustained heavy damage and extrication was needed. Three patients were transported. Tuesday, Aug. 4 BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. There was minor damage and no one was injured. Flu-Stricken Bell Gives All in Quest for Repeat Title

This was certainly the case recently for Berthoud’s Wyatt Bell. The Bell family traveled to Australia last month, where Wyatt participated in the 2009 BMX World Championships with Team USA. Family Gives Its All to Success of BMX

DiPentino, the owner and operator of the Berthoud BMX, was on hand at the Loveland Boys and Girls Club, where he helped design and build the first BMX track at the facility. New Tennis Courts a Go After School Board Approval

By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder Girls tennis season is still six months away, but Berthoud just scored its first, and maybe biggest, victory yet. The Thompson R2-J School Board voted Aug. 5 for the construction of new tennis courts — six in all — to be placed adjacent to the recently added-on auxiliary gym and classrooms. Sports Briefs: Loberg Sisters Take Top-10 Finishes at

Sisters Sarah and Amy Loberg completed their first triathlon, the Tri for the Cure, on Aug. 2 at Cherry Creek State Park. Amy, 16, placed fourth in the 19-and-under age group in a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes, 19 seconds. Sarah, 17, finished eighth in the same age group in 1:28.56. The Lobergs are students at Berthoud High School. A triathlon is a three-sport competition that includes swimming, cycling and running. The Colorado Eagles released their 2009-10 schedule Thursday. Here is a look at five highlights during the upcoming 64-game slate: SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS 1.
