An Open Letter to Congresswoman Markey
I am very upset. I have been politically active most of my adult life and have NEVER gone to a protest or rally. I attended my first to protest HR3200. I attended that rally because I actually read most of the 1,000-page bill.
The past few months I have been demonized as a Right Wing Terrorist by the DOJ, Speaker Pelosi called me un-American. I have been accused of being racist, stupid, uninformed, and a member of a manufactured angry mob. I have watched innocent citizens terrorized by SEIU members flown into “protect” Members of Congress. Self-admitted union members attended the Greeley rally, from Denver, calling us hired thugs. I had my children in a stroller!
I have patiently waited for you to announce your August break schedule. I believed you and the citizens of CD4 to be peaceful Americans who desperately want to be heard. I truly hoped you would rise above the rhetoric and give ALL your constituents a voice. You are going to hear lots of opposition and frustration. But actually listening to and being honest will go along way to quell the anger that is rising in many of us. Secret town-hall meetings and short limited “listening sessions” are over-shadowing any positive strides you have made.
I am a busy mom and believe your time is valuable. However, because of your handling of your “Listening Tour” I will be as loud a voice as possible. And I do not mean showing up shouting at you or your staff. What I mean is I will be writing you, media outlets and calling talk shows because if you will not make real time to listen to your constituency, who are rightfully concerned, then I will make sure many will hear.
