Town Briefs: Consulting Firm for Roundabout Project Chosen

The Board of Trustees has approved Empire Management of Loveland to provide construction management services for the roundabout project at the intersection of First Street and Mountain Avenue.

After receiving two proposals, Town engineer Stephanie Brothers recommended hiring Empire Management to conduct testing and inspections during the project. While $165,000 is budgeted for the construction management service, Brothers said an upper limit would be $250,000.

Total cost for the roundabout is estimated at $1,626,350. This amount includes design engineering expenses and a bid of $1,125,775 from Mountain Constructors for actual work on the project. A combination of federal, state and local agency matching funds will be used for roundabout.

A related enhancement project that will include landscaping and other amenities at the intersection has also been planned for the roundabout at the busy intersection.

Trustees Review Town Administrator Candidates
The Board of Trustees and Town Attorney Bruce Fickel met in executive session to review candidates for the town administrator position at the Aug. 18 special meeting. Before convening, Mayor Tom Patterson said that the list of candidates had been narrowed down from more than 118 applicants to the top 10, all of which had been contacted.

Patterson said the intention of the board was to select the final three candidates for consideration during the session.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Town board did approve the nomination of resident Jerry Morlan to serve as a member of the Utility Advisory Board.
