March of Dimes Grants County Maternal Health Program
The March of Dimes has awarded a $3,000 grant to the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment to support its Maternal Health Services health education program. The money will be used for educational materials developed by the March of Dimes that will augment existing prenatal and postpartum services for families served through and by the health department.

The materials will be part of education efforts that address reducing risks that can lead to poor pregnancy outcomes.

“This money will help us in educating our pregnant clients and their families,” said Misti Neil, Maternal Health Services Supervisor. “Increased awareness and knowledge of risk factors and ways to improve them can lead to changes that are more likely to influence positive outcomes for the mother, the baby and the family,”

The Maternal Service Program serves approximately 1,500 clients per year in Larimer County who are high-risk for poor pregnancy outcomes. The services include both prenatal and post-partum home visits by registered nurses as well as information and referral services where necessary.

“We are so grateful for the March of Dimes grant which will make materials available to all of the clients served through our programs,” said Neil Grant, money comes from donations and participation in local events such as WalkAmerica.
