View From the Sidelines: Northern Colorado Hockey Fans
By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder LOVELAND –– He had never been to a hockey game before much less a National Hockey League game, but there was 9-year-old Sam Allen on Sept. 23 with his short brown hair and orange jacket on at the Budweiser Events Center. The Fort Collins resident was watching the Tampa Bay Lightning and Phoenix Coyotes in one of the final preseason games before the season starts for real next month. (more...)
McGinn Solid, but Softball Falls at Windsor
By Katie Essig Berthoud Recorder WINDSOR –– Berthoud High School’s girls softball team didn’t seem able to quite find its rhythm against Windsor. The Spartans started off a little slow in Thursday’s 4A Northern Conference showdown and by the end of the second inning found them trailing by seven runs en route to a 9-4 loss. (more...)
BHS Roundup: Otto, BHS Girls Finish Top 10 at Runners
Berthoud Recorder LOVELAND — Emma Otto finished eighth and Berthoud’s girls took sixth at the Horizon-Prairie View Runners Roost Invitational on Tuesday at Addenbrooke Park. The Spartan sophomore ran the 3.1-mile course in 21 minutes, 45 seconds — less than a minute behind Evergreen’s Sam Skold, who ran a race-winning time of 20:55. Berthoud finished with four runners in the top 50 and a fifth — Dillon Fagler — who took 52nd out of a field of 423. Hannah Kirk finished 26th in ... Full Story
