Sports Briefs: Citizens, Alumni Encouraged to Run at Karspeck Invite

Berthoud High School will host the David Karspeck Spartan Invitational cross country meet Wednesday, Oct.7.
The meet will start at 3:15 p.m. with the middle school girls 4K. That will be followed by the middle school boys 4K, high school girls and high school boys races.
An alumni and citizen race will conclude the day. There is no age brackets in this race, but age-graded tables will be used to determine the overall winners. Ribbons will be awarded to the top five male and female runners.
The Golden Shoe award will be presented to the winning school afterwards, which includes runners in the citizen race who are connected to the school. Parents, alumni, managers, relatives and friends are encouraged to participate in the coaches/alumni/citizens race.

Wrestling Club Hosting Informal Open House
The Berthoud Wrestling Club is hosting an informal open house for prospective members Thursday, Oct. 8 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Berthoud Community Center.
Interested participants may register at the event or during a practice. Practices will begin Oct. 12 at the Berthoud High School wrestling room. Practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays for youth ages 4-8 at 5:30 p.m. and for youth ages 9-14 at 6:30 p.m.
Tournaments are held primarily on Saturdays during the season in northern Colorado.

TNA Wrestling Event at the BUD on Oct. 31
Total Nonstop Action is bringing its brand of professional wrestling to the Budweiser Events Center on Saturday, Oct. 31 for a special 4 p.m. afternoon Halloween event.
Performers scheduled for the card include TNA world champion A.J. Styles, X Division champion Samoa Joe, Beer Money, Inc., Rhino, Suicide, Awesome King, Abyss, Hernandez, D’Angelo Dinero, Eric Young, Kiyoshi, Homicide, Shark Boy, Hamada and more.
Tickets, which are on sale at the BUD box office as well as online at www.comcasttix.com [3], range from $20 to $50 in price.
Activities for the show include trick-or-treating prior to the event, a costume contest where fans can win backstage passes and a “Monster’s Ball” match.
