Berthoud was among several towns that lost electrical power late Thursday afternoon. Berthoud Fire Protection District monitors recorded the outage at 3:10 p.m. for traffic, business and home lights east of CR17. Berthoud Police directed traffic and offered assistance during the four- to five-hour long outage.
The power failure stemmed from a circuit breaker glitch at the Xcel substation, according to Town of Berthoud spokesperson Lisa Underhill.
Approximately 2,700 customers went without power in Berthoud, Johnstown and in some localized areas of Longmont, Loveland and Greeley. Power was back online by mid-evening.
