It’s all about balance for vitamin A

By Megan Reece Thomas Berthoud Recorder I wrote recently that by aiming to get enough of one vitamin, mineral or another, you tend to get extra of other vitamins and minerals because most whole foods are abundant in more than one nutrient. We talked about zinc recently, found in abundance in oysters and meats. On the other side of the coin is vitamin A, found mostly in green, orange and yellow vegetables and fruits, fortified dairy products and eggs. (more…)

Our Street Trees One of Berthoud’s greatest assets is its trees; something you probably don’t think about that often, but our public trees are worth over five million dollars. These are just the trees in our parks, cemetery and the public right of way. The care of these trees has always been a partnership; the town takes care of the park and cemetery trees and homeowners take care of the street trees in front of their homes and in alley ways. Tuesday, Oct. 27 BFPD responded for a carbon monoxide alarm on Foothills Drive. This was a false alarm. BFPD responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Elmwood Street. This was a false alarm and it was recommended that the detector be moved away from the furnace and eventually replaced. Wednesday, Oct. 28 BFPD responded to a medical call for back pain on 2nd Street.
