2010 Summer Reading Programs at the Library

2010 Summer Reading Programs

Registration started June 7, the programs end July 31

Storytime Tuesdays 11 a.m., 0—3 years,  12 p.m. 3—5 years & K+

Teen Programs every Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the library.

Kids Programs every Wednesday, 2 p.m. at the community center.

Prizes include toys, books, and food or event coupons.

Grand prizes include Rapids Soccer tickets, Elitch Gardens Tickets,

fun water toys, and more.


June 19

10 a.m.–12 p.m.

Berthoud Pool            Pool Party (Kid Program.)

Bring your suit, towel, and sunscreen for this fun summer kick-off. Enjoy a swim after our splashy poolside storytime.

June 15

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Library            Yo-Yo/Origami (Teen Program)

Bring your own yo yo or borrow ours to learn awesome yo-yo tricks and then discover how to fold origami sea creatures.

June 16

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Community Center            Lloydini Magic Show (Kid Program.)

This truly amazing local magician will captivate you with live dove acts, funny tricks, and much more.

June 22

2 p.m.—3:30 p.m.

Library            Guitar Workshop (Teen Program)

Enjoy great local talent from Branden Sipes. Learn on his guitars or bring your own.

June 23

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Community Center, Eddie Spaghetti (Kid Program.)

Enjoy upbeat music you can splash to with Eddie Spaghetti’s creative songs.

June 29

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Library            Magic Workshop (Teen Program)

Come get a bag of tricks as we laugh and learn with Mark Strivings.

June 30

2 p.m.—3:30 p.m.*

Community Center, Playground Theater (Kid Program.)

Laugh with the world’s first organic super heroes in this creative theater production.

July 6

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Library            Artist Workshop (Teen Program)

Learn from local artist Tanielle Childers as she teaches the techniques, details, & tricks to her dream world fantasy art.

July 7

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Community Center            Yo Ho Ho Pirate Show (Kid Program.)

Join Ann Lincoln for laughter, juggling, fun magic, and live animal pirate tricks.

July 13

6 p.m.—8 p.m.

Library            Record Producer (Teen Program)

Join real Nashville record producer Gabrielle Farago to learn what it takes to be a music star. Help him evaluate volunteer singers from the audience as he searches for new talent.

July 14

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Community Center      Denver Zoo Visit (Kid Program.)

Denver Zoo teaches us about live rainforest and wetland animals. Possible visitors include alligator, armadillo, anteater, boa constrictor, and box turtle.

July 20

2 p.m.—4 p.m.

Library            The Water Horse Book and Film Club (Teen Program)

Pre-register by July 6 and receive a free book. Read the book, then come to discuss, watch movie and compare.

July 21

2 p.m.—3 p.m.

Community Center       Mark Strivings Magic Show (Kid Program.)

Laugh hysterically with Mark Striving’s Make a Splash Magic Show.

July 27

2 p.m.—4 p.m.

Centennial Lanes, Longmont            ” Grand Finale Bowling Party” (Teen Program)

Meet at Centennial Lanes for free bowling finale fun. Grand prize winners will be announced, must be present to win. (110 E. 9th Longmont)

July 28

2 p.m.—4 p.m.

Community Center          ” Grand Finale Carnival” (Kid Program.)

Celebrate reading efforts with cotton candy, popcorn, booths, games, face painter, and Berthoud Dive & Rescue team. Grand prize winners will be announced and must be present to win.

Adult Summer Reading

Did you know that just six minutes of reading reduces stress levels by more than two-thirds? Come to the library this summer for some free stress reduction and play our summer reading bingo game. Participate by watching a DVD, reading a book, visiting the library’s Facebook page and many more activities. There are three prize levels, and for each level completed you are entered in weekly prize drawings.
