Quarterfinals update – Sadlo advances
By Michael Hicks DENVER -- Alex Sadlo, nearly pinned in the first period, overcame an early 5-0 deficit to pin Fort Lupton’s Matt Omelas in the second period of Friday’s 4A state wrestling quarterfinals at the Pepsi Center to advance to tonight’s state semifinals at 135 pounds. The Spartan boys opened the first quarter with 30 points and Greeley West never recovered. Led by Shane Hart’s 36 points and Joel Maly’s 21 points and 9 rebounds (team total 30) the Berthoud Spartans (12-11-0) beat the Greely West Spartans (14-9-0) by the score of 81-64. So did Alex Sadlo and Marcus Lucero. Shoot, Casey Couch and J.T. Pickert didn’t do too bad, either.
