While Berthoud may be out of the action, the Northern Conference is well represented with three teams in the Great 8.

In the Bill Weimer Region, #1 Sierra defeated #4 Northridge 88-63 while #3 Thomas Jefferson won in a mild upset over #2 Glenwood Springs.

Sterling, the #1 seed, advanced as expected in the Jim Baggot Region, but it was not easy. The game went to two overtime periods before the Tigers managed a 65-61 victory over #4 Centaurus. Meanwhile, #2 Lewis-Palmer had a relatively easy time with Pueblo South who had advanced from #6.

No Surprises in the Ron Shavlik Regions as #1 Longmont put an end to Montrose’s run. The Indians had defeated #4 Prairie View but lost 73-59. Pueblo Central continued to dominate its bracket, besting Cheyenne Mountain 60-37.

Number 1 Pueblo East made short work of #4 Widefield with a 58-35 drubbing. In the other game in the Guy Gibbs region, the Windsor Wizards must have some magic as they downed #3 Broomfield 76-62. The Wizards started as the #7 seed in the bracket, have advanced to the semi-finals, and seem to be improving as they climb the ladder. They are still a long shot, but stranger things have happened.

Girls Basketball

No surprises in the Tanya Haave Region as #1 Broomfield and #2 Pueblo East will meet in the semifinal. The surprising Castle View team, which started as the #10 seed, was no match for the Eagles.

The Tracy Hill Region will feature #1 Pueblo South against #2 Conifer.

In the Lou Piel Region, the Longmont Trojans had a tough time with Centaurus, finally winning 44-41 in overtime. In the other contest, the #3 Cheyenne Mountain Indians defeated #2 Rifle.

Both top seeds in the Brenda House Region, Mesa Ridge and Mullen, advanced and will meet at the School of Mines next Saturday.
