Today Larimer County Department of Natural Resources named Kerri Rollins as its Open Lands Program Manager. Rollins has been the interim manager since December, and will combine these duties with her previous duties as the Fund Development and Outreach Specialist.
“In these austere economic times, and with capable staff already in house, it just made sense to combine the positions and fill from within, ” said Gary Buffington, Director of Natural Resources. “ Kerri is passionate and committed to the Open Lands Program. She is innovative. She is creative. That is the kind of leadership we need. ”
Rollins is a two-time Colorado State graduate with a minor in Conservation Biology, Bachelor’s in Wildlife Biology, and Master’s in Natural Resource Economics. In her 10 years at Larimer County she has helped raise over $19 million, and forged new partnerships through outreach, education and volunteerism.
The Larimer County Open Lands Program is funded through the 1995 and 1999 Help Preserve Open Space ballot initiatives that allocate ¼% sales and use tax for the protection of open space and parks. To date the county and its partners have protected over 44,000 acres in Larimer County. The tax is due to sunset in 2018
