Orlando Franklin Platzek March 3, 1914 – June 14, 2010 Orlando F. Platzek of Berthoud died Monday, 14 June 2010. He was 96. He was born in Crested Butte on 3 March 1914. He was a World War II combat veteran in the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean and his son Ronald. He is survived by his sister Lena James of Claremont, California; his son Roger (Sue) Platzek of Berthoud; and his daughter Rita (Mark) Larsen of Thornton. DATE: June 14, 2010 Larimer County: In a press conference today, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office Investigators announced they have closed two cold case files from the 1980's. The body of Orma B. Smith, 02/29/1888, of Longmont, was found on July 9, 1982, in a stream three miles east of Big Elk Meadows with multiple stab wounds.
