I’ve taken the last several months to study the Republican candidates for Sheriff. On one side, I see an experienced lawman, Major Justin Smith, who has demonstrated his commitment to public safety and to caring for his community. With experience in all aspects of our Sheriff’s Office, 19 years of dedicated service to our community, a record of fiscal responsibility and a both a bachelors and masters degree in criminal justice, he has obviously prepared himself and demonstrated his commitment to our community. His opponent may have good intentions, but those intentions aren’t going to give him the guidance that he needs to lead the most important office in Larimer County. I encourage you to research both candidates for yourself and I am confident that you too will conclude that Justin Smith is prepared and ready to be our next Sheriff.
