Colorado Agriculture Groups Comment on Proposed Plover
The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) recently proposed listing the mountain plover as threatened under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Citing agriculture, oil and gas, and other alleged threats, a listing would severely affect agriculture activities in Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico. Parts of northeastern Utah, Western Kansas, northeastern Arizona and northwestern Texas could also be affected. Colorado agriculture groups quickly responded to the proposed listing. Berthoud Artist Celebrates Milestone – Holds Contest
Berthoud, CO, Local artist Tyler Kennedy celebrated selling his 8000th print reproduction of his paintings on Thursday, May 27. To commemorate the milestone, he announced a contest to name his newly released painting. This is in response to your June 24 article titled: "EarthSky Tonight-June 24: Earth passes between sun and Pluto tomorrow." I wish you had a comments section because I would have posted this in that section. Pluto is not a "former planet." It is a planet. Please do not blindly accept the controversial demotion of Pluto, which was done by only four percent of the International Astronomical Union, most of whom are not planetary scientists. Local soccer team takes the “Rushmore Cup”
The Club United Black soccer team from Thompson Soccer Association finished their season by winning the Rushmore Cup. The under 15-years of age team has players from Berthoud, Loveland, Windsor and Fort Collins, The team finished the Spring 2010 Season with a record of 5-3-1 earning fourth place in a field of 10 teams in its Colorado division. Habitat “ReStore” getting close
The Habitat crew had hoped to have the ReStore open by May but July is looking more realistic. This corner will look much better when the store and the roundabout are finished. both seem to be near completion. One of the signs that the store is nearing is grand opening is the installation of the sign over the door.
