Benefit poker run starts at the Derby

Friends and family are hosting a benefit poker run for Randy Guild and Brenda Smith of Loveland. Randy and Brenda were injured in a serious motorcycle accident on the Peak to Peak highway while on a ride in July. Their cycle malfunctioned and they lost control, hitting a guardrail and fell 15-35 feet down the canyon. Berthoud's oldest base ball player and civic volunteer nearly died while attending a Republican training session on Wednesday. According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, 78-year-old Herb Meeker slumped over and then slid from his chair to the floor. Quick action by local politicians probably saved his life.
