Berthoud’s oldest base ball player and civic volunteer nearly died while attending a Republican training session on Wednesday. According to the Loveland Reporter-Herald, 78-year-old Herb Meeker slumped over and then slid from his chair to the floor. Quick action by local politicians probably saved his life.
