Larimer County Fair Photos Review

The County Fair Parade took place a couple days before the official opening, but the activities had started even before that as 4-H kids were busy setting up exhibits and competing in the equine events. Here the Berthoud Highlanders 4-H Club took time to enter the parade. The Larimer County Fair is over but the memories linger. The midway was open and many people enjoyed the activities. The weekend had many outside activities to enjoy, but much of what the fair is about took place in the ... Full Story

Earthsky Tonight—July 10, Look toward the center of the Milky Way galaxy

Courtesy of EarthSky A Clear Voice for Science www.EarthSky.org Yesterday’s chart showed the part of our Milky Way galaxy that stretches overhead in the evening. Today’s chart is aimed toward the galaxy’s center, which is located some 30,000 light-years away. Remember, when you are looking at this starlit band across the sky – visible from country locations – you are peering edgewise into our own galaxy. Today’s chart shows that the starlit trail of the Milky Way seems to bulge ... Full Story

Stockley is informed on water issues

To the editor: Some time ago an article written by Mark Lehan was published in the Loveland Reporter Herald, and last week it resurfaced in the Berthoud Recorder. I feel the public and Karen Stockley are entitled to an accurate response. The facts are that Karen has been an active and informed citizen on water issues for many years, and anyone including un-named officials at Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District (NCWCD)" should know that. If the NCWCD wishes to dispute Karen's ... Full Story

In support of Romanoff

Dear Friends and Neighbors: The other day I was walking door to door for Romanoff when I knocked on the door of a registered voter who told me that she no longer votes. I have always maintained that if one is disgusted by politics one should participate more, not less, since how else will things change. It turned out, however, that the woman was a Jehovah’s Witness, and although I didn’t know it, they don’t vote. Since I have a commitment to democracy and voting, I urged her, in a ... Full Story

Bands of Berthoud in the park

It turned out to be a beautiful day in Fickel Park, great weather for a day of music as the Bands of Berthoud performed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The audience was treated to 11 hours of almost continuous music provided by local musical groups. Many brought lawn chairs and settled in for several hours in the park. Technically, not all the groups were bands. The opening act of the Priority 5 is a singing group with recorded music and Burke Swinger and Brandon Sipes are solo acts, still the name ... Full Story
