A smoke plum visible from along the front range marks the location of a major wild land fire just west of Flatiron Reservoir west of Loveland. The location of the fire at noon on Sunday was bounded by Pole Hill Road (West County Road 18E), Chimney Hollow Road and an unnamed road on the west side of the reservoir.
At 11 a.m. the fire covered approximately 30 acres and is growing. Reports indicate the fire is moving north and west. Residents have been ordered to evacuate from the area including homes at Pinewood Lake, Quillin Gulch and County Road 31.
Units from Loveland, Berthoud, Mountain View Fire District, Wellington, Windsor, Greeley, Poudre Fire and State Forest Service are on scene under the direction of the Larimer Count Sheriff.
Aircraft have been on the fire since 10 a.m. and helicopters joined the battle just before 1 p.m.
Several structures are threatened.
