Spartan soccer shuts out Holy Family

The Berthoud High School soccer team continues to roll with its high scoring  and solid defense, winning over Holy Family High School 5 - 0. The Spartans have won all three games played against non-conference opponents with 20 goals scored and only 4 goals against. The team shows great balance as indicated by goals by Jano Beltran, Tavo Beltran, Martinius Karlsen and two by Axel Ayala while Goalie Alex Hughes made seven saves at the Berthoud goal. Marlene Faye Foster, 72, of Longmont, died September 1, 2010 at The Vista’s of Longmont. . She was born December 13, 1937 in Bartley, Nebraska, the daughter of Jesse John and Gladys Alice (Turpen) Frank. She graduated from Bartley High School in 1955. On August 9, 1956 she married Byron “Barney” Foster in Bartley, Nebraska. They were blessed with two daughters: Regena “Gena” and Tara. Girls Softball, Berthoud 8 – Windsor 3

Windsor took the early lead with two runs in the first inning, but Berthoud came back with six runs in the second inning and that would have been enough as the Spartans shut the Wizards down for the last 5 innings. Victoria Puchino pitched 7 innings and gave up 3 runs on 7 hits with 6 walks and 3 strikeouts. Game Stats below.

The Berthoud Fire Protection District sent the following press release today, September 8. Berthoud Fire Protection District Tuesday, September 8, 2010 The Berthoud Fire Protection District has deployed resources to the Four Mile Fire 10 miles west of Boulder. The first resource, Engine 13 a Type 3 Engine with four firefighters, was sent for structural protection Monday morning. The Colorado Force have again joined with the MLS Colorado Rapids to present a soccer doubleheader, featuring the highest level of women’s and men’s soccer in Colorado as part of the Rapids’ 4th annual Women’s Soccer Celebration. Animal House Receives Second Chance

Press Release After asking the community for a second chance, Animal House received an overwhelming influx of community support. “No words can truly express how deeply we are affected by the recent outpouring of support from our community,” exclaims Executive Director, Sandra Risler. Spartans now 2-0 in Soccer

Coach Jon Barron's squad brought home another decisive victory as they defeated Roosevelt 7-4. Berthoud led 3-2 at the half on goals by Ayala, Beltran and Berra. Berthoud added four more goals in the second period with two scores by Karlsen with Beltran and Ayala each scoring. Roosevelt is now 1-1 while Berthoud is 2-0.
