In the 112 pound class, Alex Kingsley ranked at 12 this week won three matches loosing only to 11th ranked Gabe Padilla of the Academy.
The Academy showed up with only four wrestlers, 112, 135, 189 and 215 pounds, so that not all Berthoud wrestlers had four matches.

His third match was against DJ Hightower of Widefield who is No. 4 ranked 4A wrestler. Couch took that match by a fall at 3:58. He next defeated C. Mendoza of Greeley, ranked at No. 6, by a score of 12-8.

In the final weight class, Josh Atkinson at 210 pounds wrestling in the 289 class defeated the #4 and #6 Class 4A Heavyweights 7-5 and 7-2.
With nine of their 13 wrestlers (the 103 pound class is vacant) ranked in the top 10, the Spartans are on track for several wrestlers to go to the state championship. The Spartans have fallen to third place in the 3A rankings behind Alamosa and Valley, but there is still time to recoup with a strong showing.
