Astronomy Picture of the Day

Boston Moonrise Image Credit & Copyright: Dennis Di Cicco (TWAN) Explanation: Last week's Full Moon was hard to miss. Rising on March 19, its exact full phase occurred within an hour of perigee, the closest point in the Moon's orbit to Earth. As a result it appeared some 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a Full Moon near apogee, the most distant point in the elliptical lunar orbit. Seen here, the near perigee Full Moon still hugs the horizon, distorted by ... Full Story

There is one issue that irritates me beyond belief and that is the number of our fellow citizens who continue to choose to drink and drive in our town. Has everyone forgotten about poor Todd Peeples and the other boy who were killed in the spring of 2003? So, I have zero axe to grind with anyone here in town, but if you drink and drive ... park it ... and yes... call a cab, a ... Full Story
