Free music from your Berthoud Library

Freegal
Freegal (rhymes with “legal”) offers free music downloads to Berthoud Community Library card-holders. Choose from hundreds of thousands of songs in the Sony Music catalog.
To sign up for and use Freegal via the Berthoud Community Library, you need have a Berthoud Library card. Please register to use Freegal at the library or call (970) 532-2757.
Once you have registered, you may Sign in to Freegal site [2]with your email address and designated password.
You can download up to 3 tracks per week. Monitor your downloads using “Recent Downloads” in the upper right corner of the site. Every song has a sample clip you can preview before you download. The new week starts on Sunday night.
The library also has a weekly limit. If the library runs out of downloads for the week, you can go to “My Wishlist” in the upper right corner and queue up for future music.
The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format with no DRM (Digital Rights Management.) This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. It works on both PCs and Macs.
Check out the browsing areas, especially Artists A to Z (bottom of page) and the genre lists (menu bar). “See all Genres” to view dozens of categories. Many bands’ names start with “The” so if you’re having trouble finding a band, look under “T.”
