Suicide Resource Center to commemorate 22 years of saving lives

Larimer County, CO – The Suicide Resource Center of Larimer County will commemorate twenty-two years of active involvement in Northern Colorado on Thursday, October 6 with its annual Life Savers Fundraiser Breakfast at the Fort Collins Hilton, 425 W. Prospect Road. The one-hour event begins at 7:30 AM and will include music by Mark Sloniker, guest speakers, highlights of the successes of the past year, and insights into the future direction of the organization. This is a free event; however, guests will be given an opportunity to donate and partner with the Suicide Resource Center. Citizens of Larimer County founded the Suicide Resource Center in 1989 in response to the high number of suicide deaths in Larimer County. The organization’s mission is to prevent suicide by raising awareness and educating the community, and to support families whose lives have been impacted by suicide.
Colorado’s suicide rate is among the highest in the nation. The Suicide Resource Center provides programs to combat this statistic including the school-based R.A.P.P. program and community program, “Hope for Today”. These free educational services reach over 5,200 Larimer County students and adults each year. The Suicide Resource Center also offers peer-led depression/bipolar support groups and grief support group for those who have been affected by the tragedy of suicide.
