48 Star Flag to be dedicated at Berthoud High School

Flag Dedication at Berthoud High School

[1]

A piece of local history will be dedicated in the Berthoud High School auditorium on Friday, January 21, at 10:00 a.m. A 48-star American flag, which used to hang in the auditorium at the old Berthoud Junior-Senior High School, was recently returned to the high school after a 48-year absence. Following the dedication, the flag will be permanently mounted in the auditorium lobby near When I Touch the Wall, a painting which was presented to the school several years ago.

The dedication will include the story of the flag’s 48-year journey, an explanation of the reason the flag will be displayed near the painting, and a presentation by the Berthoud High School JROTC unit.

The community is invited to attend the dedication. Organizers say the event should be of special interest to those who attended Berthoud Junior-Senior High in the 1940s and 1950s because they were students when the flag hung in that school’s auditorium.
