Apparent Attempted Suicide on Interstate 25

At approximately 6:58 AM Larimer County Sheriff Dispatch received a request for assistance and responded to a report of a female who had exited a motor vehicle on north bound Interstate 25 near mile marker 269 just north of the Prospect interchange.  The Colorado State Patrol and PVH Ambulance Service also responded.  According to witness statements and initial investigation, she attempted to step in front of a north bound semi-truck.  That truck swerved to avoid impact.  She then immediately proceeded to run in front of a second north bound semi-truck.  That driver also took evasive action swerving into the median, but the female made contact with the passenger side front/corner of the truck and sustained serious injury.  She was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies and is in critical condition.  Her name is not being released at this time.  The initial investigation indicates this was an attempted suicide.  The drivers of both trucks and a passenger in the second truck were uninjured.  No other parties were involved or injured on scene.  Larimer County Sheriffs office is investigating the attempted suicide.  The Colorado State Patrol handled the scene on Interstate 25.  No further information is available at this time.
