BAE Systems Sells its Container Solutions Assets in Berthoud

BERTHOUD, Colorado─ BAE Systems’ U. S. Combat Systems (USCS) business announced today that it has sold its Container Solutions assets in Berthoud, Colo., to Rocky River Holdings LLC.

“The decision to sell the Container Solutions business assets was made to better align with the company’s strategic objectives,” said Gary Slack, president of BAE Systems’ U. S. Combat Systems business.

BAE Systems plans to use subcontractors, including Rocky River Holdings LLC, to complete work on its final Container Solutions contracts. While USCS is exiting this facility, it will continue to ensure that its contractual obligations are met until all Container Solutions contracts are complete.

BAE Systems inherited the Container Solutions operations in Berthoud through its acquisition of United Defense in 2005. The Berthoud facility manufactures highly specialized shipping containers for the U. S. Armed Forces.

BAE Systems is a global defense, security and aerospace company with approximately 107,000 employees worldwide. The company delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and customer support and services. In 2009 BAE Systems reported sales of £22.4 billion (US$ 36.2 billion).
