Incident Summary, January 2011

 

Saturday, January 1

BFPD assisted with a medical call for an elderly female who had fallen. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a carbon dioxide alarm on Iowa Avenue. Sensors were used to check the residence and no carbon dioxide was detected in the residence. The responsible party was advised to replace the faulty detectors.


Sunday, January 2

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on N First Street and County Road 10. A single vehicle was found on its side in a ditch. There were no injuries reported.


Wednesday, January 5

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Fourth Street for an elderly person who was feeling ill. The patient was transported.


Thursday, January 6

BFPD responded to a fire alarm on Second Street. A new fire alarm was being installed at this business and was being tested causing the alarm to activate.


Friday, January 7

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Douglas Place. A female had fallen down some stairs and was complaining of neck, leg and back pain. The crew assisted with transporting the patient.

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident on County Road 17 and West County Road 8. There was minor damage to the vehicles and no reported injuries.


Saturday, January 8

BFPD responded to a fire alarm at Berthoud High School. This was an accidental activation caused by a basketball hitting the fire alarm box.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Second Street.  The patient was transported.


Sunday, January 9

BFPD responded to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 287 and County Road 4. The vehicle was in the ditch.  One patient reported injury and the vehicle sustained moderate damage.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on West County Road 8.  A truck was found off road against some trees.  The driver sustained some cuts on the head and hands.


Monday, January 10

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. A truck had spun out of control and stopped in the ditch. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and a patient complaining of neck pain was transported.

BFPD witnessed another two-vehicle accident at mile marker 248. There were no injuries or damage to the vehicles. The crew assisted with pushing the vehicle out of the ditch.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle rollover accident on Weld County Road 7 and Highway 56. There were no injuries reported.


Wednesday, January 12

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Weld County Road 1 and Weld County Road 36. A single vehicle was found on its side. There were no reported injuries.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Second Street for a person having difficulty breathing.

BFPD was notified of a power line down on Weld County Road 40 and East County Road 4. An accident in the area caused the pole to be knocked down. The fire crew stayed on scene until the Weld County Sheriff arrived.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Cheyenne Drive. The patient was transported.


Thursday, January 13

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Ninth Street. The patient was transported.


Friday, January 14

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Weld County Road 7. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. There were no injuries reported.


Saturday, January 15

BFPD responded to a possible structure fire on Gunn Road. Upon arrival to the residence, there were no signs of smoke or fire. The reported smoke was possibly from a flue for a pellet stove that was improperly installed.

 

Monday, January 17

BFPD responded to a citizen assist to check the carbon monoxide levels in a residence on S. County Road 15. No levels of carbon dioxide were found. The wood burning stove appeared to have some problems creating strong smoke odors inside the residence. The homeowner was advised to not use the stove until repairs could be done.

BFPD assisted with a medical call for a patient who had fallen.


Tuesday, January 18

BFPD assisted with a medical call for diabetic complications on Wales Drive.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire near the intersection of West County Road 10 and County Road 23.  A fire was found mostly confined in a ditch, but flames were encroaching into the nearby field.  The fire was extinguished.  A property owner was burning tree branches when a sudden wind change took the fire out of control.


Wednesday, January 19

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Weld County Road 5. The crew arrived and searched for smoke or fire and nothing was showing. The alarm system was determined to be faulty.


Thursday, January 20

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Redwood Circle for a patient experiencing for seizures. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a residential structure fire in a garage on Welch Avenue. The fire was confined to a motorcycle in the garage. There was some minor smoke inside the residence but there was no damage to the structure.


Saturday, January 22

BFPD assisted with a medical call for an unconscious elderly person on Goose Hollow Road.

BFPD responded to Redwood Circle for a medical call for cardiac arrest.  The patient was transported emergent.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Sixth Street for a patient with breathing problems. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 involving two vehicles which sustained moderate damage.  There were no reported injuries.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Fourth Street for a patient experiencing chest pain.  The patient was transported.


Sunday, January 23

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Breckenridge Drive. Upon arrival there was no fire. One of the homes smoke detector needed new batteries, which had caused the alarm to activate.

 

Monday, January 24

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Eighth Street for a patient complaining of shoulder pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted a citizen on Weld County Road 48 with a carbon dioxide alarm that had activated.


Tuesday, January 25

BFPD assisted with a medical call at Berthoud High School.


Wednesday, January 26

BFPD assisted with a medical call on First Street.


Thursday, January 27

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. There were no injuries reported.


Friday, January 28

BFPD responded to a report of an outside gas leak in the area of Ninth Street. The crew was unable to detect a source of gas.

BFPD assisted a citizen on Franklin Ave with a faulty carbon monoxide detector.


Saturday, January 29

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Indiana Avenue for a patient who had fallen and injured their leg.  The patient was treated on scene by TVEMS.

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm at Turner Middle School. This was a false alarm.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Eighth Street for a person who had fallen from a horse. The patient was transported.

 

Monday, January 31

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25. This was a two-vehicle accident requiring extrication from one of the vehicles for a person who was injured.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Yellowstone Road. Approximately two miles south of Yellowstone Rd., a single vehicle was found on its side. There were no occupants of the vehicle at the scene.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Martingale Drive. TVEMS transported the patient.

BFPD assisted with a medical call for cardiac arrest on Lacoritz Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Dakota Ridge Road. Upon arrival at the scene, smoke was evident inside the residence. The smoke was coming from a fireplace because the fireplace door was left open. The house was ventilated and no further complications were found.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. This was a minor accident with no reported injuries.
