Incident Activity for July  2010


Friday, July 2

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Bruce Drive. A small fire in a homeowner’s back yard was extinguished.

BFPD responded to a reported vehicle fire on Interstate 25 southbound lanes @ mile marker 253. Upon arrival, a Honda CRV was found with no signs of fire in the vehicle, but did have mechanical problems. The owner arranged for the vehicle to be towed.

Saturday, July 3

BFPD responded to a church on Spartan Avenue that had an activated fire alarm. This was accidental and the alarm was shut down until an alarm company could reset the system.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Weld County Road 3 for a sick person complaining of neck pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Wilshire Drive. A 30 ft. by 20 ft grass fire in a vacant residential lot was quickly moving toward a structure because of the wind coming from the west. The fire was extinguished and cleaned up before any contact was made with the structure. Fireworks were the source of the ignition.

Sunday, July 4

BFPD responded, at the request of Berthoud Police, to Bunyan Avenue and Sixth Street for a man down in the middle of the road. The patient was transported.

Monday, July 5

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical on 548 Eighth Street.

BFPD assisted Loveland Fire by mutual aid with a grass fire at West First Street and South Taft Avenue.

BFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at mile marker 250 on I-25. Berthoud Fire was cancelled en-route.

Tuesday, July 6

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident with possible extrication at Highway 287 and West County Road 8. Upon arrival, Berthoud Fire found all parties out of the vehicle.

BFPD was called to a grass fire at 11165 Yellowstone Road. Upon arrival, a haystack was heavily involved.

BFPD responded to a medical emergency at 20905 Weld County Road 3 for a female with breathing problems. Patient was transported.

Thursday, July 8,

BFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries at mile marker 250 on I-25. The scene was checked for hazards and all units cleared.

BFPD assisted with a medical call at 1704 Horseshoe circle for a female with breathing problems. BFPD assisted TVEMS and patient was transported.

BFPD was called to a grass fire at Eighth Street and Columbine Circle. Crews put out a 100’ x 30’ fire. Berthoud Police Department checked for evidence and cleared.

Saturday, July 10

BFPD was called to two road bicyclists who had run into each other on West County Road 8E and North County Road 27E. The patients were treated and one was transported by TVEMS.

BFPD was called to a smoke odor/grass fire at County Road 23E and West County Road 8. Upon arrival, a small pile of waste material, including hay and grass, was smoldering. Crews put it out and all units cleared.

BFPD responded to a medical emergency for an 80-year-old male who had fallen at 905 Seventh Street. The patient was transported by TVEMS.

BFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 250 on I-25. Crews were cancelled en route.

BFPD responded to a medical at 3499 Bianca Court for a 94-year-old female who had fallen. Crews assisted TVEMS and the patient was transported.

BFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 250 on I-25. Crews checked for hazards, and then cleared the scene.

BFPD was called to a grass fire at 1609 Hollyberry Street. Crews found a small 2×2 fire and extinguished it with a pressurized water extinguisher.

Sunday, July 11

BFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident at mile marker 254 on I-25. Crews assisted Loveland Fire with traffic control.

BFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident at Spartan Avenue and S County Road 17. Crews extricated the female but no injuries were sustained.

BFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident at E Highway 60 and Weld County Road 7. Crews were cancelled on scene by Loveland Fire, as it was mutual aid.

BFPD responded to a medical call at 609 Candice for a 69-year-old female who had tripped and fallen. Crews assisted TVEMS with patient care and the patient was transported.

Wednesday, July 14

BFPD responded to a medical call on Fourth Street for abdominal pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a smoke odor investigation on Redwood Circle.  After investigating the area, there was no odor to be found.

Thursday, July 15

BFPD responded with Berthoud Police to a medical call at the Berthoud Park and Ride near Interstate 25 frontage road. A female patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on E. Iowa Avenue for a patient who ha fainted. The patient care was transferred to TVEMS upon their arrival.

Friday, July 16

BFPD responded to a medical call at The Berthoud Living Center for a patient having breathing difficulties. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a five vehicle accident on Interstate 25, northbound at mile marker 250.  There were no reported injuries and only minor damage to the vehicles.

Saturday, July 17

BFPD responded to a medical call for seizures on 10th Street. The crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Massachusetts Avenue for a patient who had fainted. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident reported on Highway 287 and 42nd Street SW. This was a single vehicle accident with moderate damage to the vehicle. One patient was injured and was transported.

Sunday, July 18

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Highway 287 and West County Road 8. This was a 10 x 10 foot grass fire that was extinguished and cleaned up by the fire crew.

Monday, July 19

BFPD responded to a grass fire caused by a lightning strike on Cottonwood Lane. Upon arrival, the crew found approximately four to six foot high, slow moving flames on approximately ½ acre. While extinguishing the fire, a windstorm came through the area causing the slow moving fire to become fast moving, producing several new spot fires in the area and eventually consuming approximately 40 acres.  Mutual aide was requested from Loveland Fire, Mountain View Fire, Larimer County and Colorado State Forest Service. Several structures were threatened, but fencing was the only property damage involved.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Sandia Lane also caused by lightning. Loveland Fire and Larimer County assisted with structure protection. Larimer County assumed command of the fire due to the multiple incidents in the Berthoud District.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Franklin Avenue for a patient experiencing dizziness. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, July 20

BFPD responded to Cottonwood Lane to investigate a tree that was burning from the previous day’s fire. The fire was extinguished.

Wednesday, July 21

BFPD responded to a Berthoud Police Department request for help with a patient in the area of Third Street and Mountain Avenue. Thompson Valley Emergency Medical Service (TVEMS) also responded to the scene and took over the patient care.

Thursday, July 22

BFPD responded to Eighth Street and Mountain Avenue for an electrical wire that had come loose from a transformer due to high wind and was arcing. Xcel Energy was notified and responded to the scene.

BFPD assisted Loveland Fire with a structure fire on Willowrock Drive in Loveland.

BFPD assisted with a medical call for chest pain on Wilshire Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call for an unconscious patient on Nebraska Avenue. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to an odor investigation on Weld County Road 42. An odor of gas and sewer was found in the area. A newly located natural gas well was reported and investigated.

BFPD assisted Berthoud Police and TVEMS with a patient who had been assaulted on Second Street.

Friday, July 23

BFPD responded to a reported outdoor gas leak in the Megan Way area. The odor seemed to be coming from a nearby gas substation. The company was notified to investigate.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Cedar Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident involving three cars, with minor to moderate damage to the vehicles. One patient was transported.

Saturday, July 24

BFPD responded to 95th Street and Yellowstone Road for a reported field on fire. This was an attended bonfire, but due to not having a permit and not having water available, the fire crew extinguished the fire.

Sunday, July 25

BFPD assisted with a medical call for lacerations on First Street.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcyclist on Interstate 25 @ mile marker 248. TVEMS attended two injured patients.

BFPD responded to Valley Dirt Rider for a motorcycle accident. One injured patient was transported.

Monday, July 26,

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Second Street for chest pain. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, July 27,

BFPD responded to a reported residential fire alarm. The resident believed a lightning bolt might have hit near the house that could have caused the fire alarm to activate. The structure was investigated and the alarm was reset.

Wednesday, July 28,

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on West County Road 8 and Highway 287. This was a two-vehicle rear end type accident. One patient was transported.

Thursday, July 29

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire resulting from lightning on 107th Street. A 50’ by 100’ area had begun to burn but was already being extinguished by the heavy rains.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident near Highway 60 and County Road 7. A vehicle had rear ended a farm tractor pulling a baler. There were no reported injuries.

Friday, July 30

BFPD responded with the Berthoud Police Department to a medical call on Third Street. The patient was transported.

Saturday, July 31,

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Second Street. The patient was transported.
