Incident activity for April 2013

Monday, April 1

BFPD responded to a medical call for a fall victim on Longview Ave. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care.

BFPD responded to a medical call to I-25. The call was cancelled while the crew was en route.

BFPD was called to Franklin Ave for a medical emergency; the crew assisted TVEMS with patient care.

BFPD responded to Massachusetts Ave. at the request of law enforcement for a possible suicidal subject. The patient was taken into custody and transported.

Tuesday, April 2

BFPD responded to a grassfire on Yellowstone Road, reported by Boulder County Sheriff’s Office. A small tree was burning from a possible controlled burn earlier in the day. The crew extinguished the fire.

BFPD responded as mutual aid to a reported structure fire on Wren Pl. The call was cancelled while the crew was en route.

BFPD responded to Fourth Street for a medical call, after assisting TVEMS with patient care the crew returned to the station.

Wednesday, April 3

BFPD responded to a smoke alarm on Bunyan Ave. When they arrived they found the building had been evacuated and there was no emergency. It was found to be a planned fire alarm drill.

BFPD responded to a fire alarm on Massachusetts Ave. A maintenance person had set off the alarm while painting. The crew did a quick interior search to confirm there was no emergency before returning to the station.

Thursday, April 4

BFPD responded to a medical call on Second St.

Saturday, April 6

BFPD responded to Second Street for a gas odor in a commercial warehouse. No levels of CO were found.

Sunday, April 7

BFPD responded to a law enforcement request for assistance on a medical call on Larimer County Road 13. A single car was found in a field with one female occupant.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Iowa Avenue, and initiated patient care until the arrival of TVEMS.

BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire in the area of County Road 5 and Hwy 56. The crew found that this was a legal controlled burn of agricultural ditches; however the burn extended into cattails, which are a violation of air quality regulations. The responsible party agreed to notify BFPD before completing any additional burns.

BFPD was dispatched to Valley Dirt Riders track and was cancelled en route.

BFPD responded to a report of a drunken male in need of medical attention on Mountain Ave. Upon arrival the patient had no apparent medical needs. Berthoud Police were notified and upon their arrival the crew returned to quarters.

Monday, April 8

BFPD responded to an outside smoke investigation at the intersection of W. County Road 4 and County Road 23E. This was found to be a controlled burn.

BFPD responded to a vehicle accident at mile marker 251 on I-25 in the northbound lane involving a semi and a Honda CRV with moderate damage to the rear end of the Honda. No injuries were reported. BFPD assisted with traffic and with removing debris from the highway.

Tuesday, April 9

BFPD responded to a residential structure fire on Meining Road. The crew found a deck, attached to the house, on fire, with possible extension into the attic. The crew evacuated the resident and extinguished the fire. Following investigation there was no further extension of the fire. The resident was allowed to return.

BFPD responded to a single vehicle rollover on West County Road 8 involving a pickup truck. BFPD removed the driver from the vehicle and assisted TVEMS with patient care until being cleared to leave the scene by Colorado State Patrol (CSP) officers.

Wednesday, April 10

BFPD was called to Franklin Ave. for a medical emergency. Before patient contact both BFPD and TVEMS were cancelled.

BFPD responded to Getaway Dr. for a fall. The individual was found sitting in a chair was alert and talked with the crew. The patient was evaluated by BFPD and transported by TVEMS.

BFPD responded along with TVEMS to Second Street for a fall victim. After lifting the patient and confirming no injury had occurred the crew returned to the station.

BFPD responded to I-25 for a reported vehicle fire. They found an abandoned overheated vehicle.

Thursday, April 11

BFPD responded to Franklin Ave. for a medical call. Patient was advised to seek further medical care.

BFPD responded to I-25 and MM252 for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries. Upon arrival a single-car accident was found with the driver out of the vehicle and walking around. TVEMS assumed patient care and upon arrival of CSP the crew cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to Massachusetts Ave. for a medical call. Patient care was turned over to TVEMS.

BFPD responded to Welch Ave. for a medical call. BFPD assisted TVEMS with patient care.

BFPD responded to Franklin Ave. for a medical call.  The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care. The patient was transported.

Sunday, April 14

BFPD responded to Ninth Street for a medical emergency. The patient had difficulty breathing; the crew assisted TVEMS with patient care.

Monday, April 15

BFPD responded to a fire alarm on First St. The crew responded to the scene, but nothing was found.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. There was minor damage to a single vehicle and there were no reported injuries.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 254.

BFPD responded to a medical call for seizures at Berthoud High School. The crew assisted TVEMS with medical care.

BFPD was dispatched to Interstate 25 for a non-injury accident. The call was cancelled en route.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Sioux Drive for breathing problems. The crew assisted TVEMS with medical care. The patient was transported.

BFPD was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25. The incident was cancelled en route.

BFPD assisted a citizen on Second St.

Tuesday, April 16

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for chest pain on Celeste Lane. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a multiple vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 255. A semi was jackknifed and six vehicles were found off the roadway due to road conditions. The northbound lanes were shut down at the Berthoud exit until traffic started moving. All semi trucks were required to use chains. Once the traffic started moving northbound, Colorado State Patrol cleared the crew from the scene.

BFPD responded to a structure fire on Blue Mountain Avenue at 7:05 pm. A large storage building was fully involved, the structure was unoccupied. The crew attacked the fire with assistance from Loveland Fire. Large amounts of hay were involved inside the barn. The fire was completely extinguished at approximately 2:00 am.  The fire crew remained on scene watching for hot spots throughout the night.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Oak Drive for a patient who had dislocated a hip. The crew assisted TVEMS with medical care. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, April 17

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for abdominal pain on Sheehan Drive. The patient was transported.

Thursday, April 18

BFPD assisted TVEMS with medical care for a person who had fallen on Glacier Ave. The patient was assisted to a chair and the fire crew cleared the scene.

BFPD was dispatched to a medical emergency on Yellowstone Road. While en route it was determined that the address was in the Longmont district and the crew was released.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a patient who had fallen on Second St. The patient was assessed for injuries and transported for further care.

Friday, April 19

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. This was a non-injury accident. The fire crew provided traffic control and assessed for hazards. When units of the Colorado State Patrol arrived, the fire crew returned to the station.

Saturday, April 20

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Weld County Road 46. The crew further assisted TVEMS with lifting the patient for transport.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Second St. for a patient complaining of a broken hip. The crew assisted with transporting the patient.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with the care of a patient with a dislocated hip at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Sunday, April 21

BFPD responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on Massachusetts Avenue. No elevated levels were found in the residence.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Ninth St. The crew assisted with patient care and transporting.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for chest pains on Cedar Dr. The patient was transported.

Monday, April 22

BFPD responded to a suspicious package in front of the Community Center, 248 Welch. Berthoud Police were notified and all precautions taken. The 200 Block of Welch was evacuated and the Larimer County Bomb Squad was called. Upon arrival the bomb squad examined the two bags and determined they were filled with trash.

BFPD responded to a medical call on W. County Road 2.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. The call was cancelled en-route.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. The call was cancelled en-route.

BFPD was dispatched to Interstate 25 for a motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries. The crew found two cars just east of the off ramp on the southbound lanes. Moderate damage was found to both vehicles and one party complaining of chest pain. Both parties were evaluated by TVEMS.

Tuesday, April 23

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a report of a single vehicle rollover on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. All occupants were out of the vehicle. BFPD assisted TVEMS with patient care and checked the vehicle for hazards. Upon arrival of CSP, BFPD cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to Larimer County Road 17 for a single vehicle accident. The accident had occurred the night before and the driver was working on finding a tow. While assisting the driver a black Acura slid into E-2. No injuries were involved and minor damage was incurred to both the engine and the Acura. Following district policy an investigation was completed BFPD cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to a medical call on West Larimer County Road 4.

Wednesday, April 24

BFPD responded to a medical call with TVEMS on Franklin Ave.

BFPD responded to a medical call on the I-25 Frontage Road mile marker 248. The call was cancelled en-route.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Franklin Ave for an elderly female patient.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Horseshoe Cir. for an individual with chest pain. The crew assisted TVEMS, and the patient was transported.

Thursday, April 25

BFPD responded to a request for medical assistance. The crew assumed medical care until the arrival of TVEMS. Upon arrival the crew continued in assisting with loading the patient. Patient was transported.

BFPD was dispatched to a medical call for a fainting/unconscious person on Thundering Peaks Dr. BFPD assisted TVEMS with patient care and with loading the patient for transport.

BFPD was dispatched to a report of a structure fire on Holmes Place. This was was found to be an oven fire. The fire crew ventilated the residence and checked for signs of fire extension.

Friday, April 26

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at SW 42nd Street. This was a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. The crew used absorbent to control a small anti-freeze leak from one of the vehicles and upon arrival of Loveland Fire transferred command to them and returned to the station.

BFPD responded to Weld County Road 1 for a grass fire. The crew found a 100 yard attended ditch burn that was inactive. The Fire was contained to a power pole, the crew extinguished the portion of the fire that could be done in safe manner then waited for Poudre Valley REA to arrive and secure the power. While waiting, what remained of the fire burned itself out. When the Poudre Valley REA crew arrived, they evaluated the pole for repairs. BFPD remained on scene to assist with traffic control until repairs were completed.

BFPD did patient care for a walk in at Station 1. TVEMS responded and the patient was evaluated and cleared to be driven to the ER via a personal vehicle.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident involving injuries on S. County Road 23 E. BFPD assisted TVEMS with patient care and lifting of the patient from the ditch where the rider had landed following the accident. Patient was transported and the crew remained on the scene until CSP arrived.

Saturday, April 27

BFPD responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical call. BFPD assisted TVEMS with patient care.

BFPD responded to the Habitat for Humanity store for a 75 year old male who had fallen and had a bleeding laceration to the back of his head. BFPD assisted TVEMS with patient care. Patient was transported and BFPD returned to quarters.

BFPD responded to the Colorado Rapid Car Wash for a sick person in a vehicle. TVEMS was on scene when the fire crew arrived. BFPD assisted with securing the vehicle and loading the patient.

BFPD was dispatched to a report of a man choking in the 1000 block of 4th Street. The call was cancelled en-route.

BFPD was dispatched to a report of a male injured at the skate park on 2nd Street. This call was also cancelled en-route.

BFPD responded to a medical on I-25, mile marker 250. The crew assisted TVEMs with patient care. The patient was transported.

Sunday, April 28

BFPD responded to the 500 block of Redwood Cir. for a person with chest pain. BFPD assisted TVEMS with patient care and the loading of the patient for transport.

BFPD was called to County Road 8 for a motorcycle accident. All parties were found upright, talking and appeared to have little or no injuries. TVEMS talked with the motorcyclist who refused transport and was released. The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department then released BFPD.

BFDP was dispatched to aid Johnstown Fire on Gateway Drive. BFPD found Johnstown operating within the structure to identify the source of the smoke. BFPD assisted Johnstown with manpower for the duration of the time on scene. After the source had been determined and the structure ventilated the crew was cleared from the scene

Monday, April 29

BFPD responded to a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center for a patient experiencing breathing difficulties. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with medical care and transporting the patient.

BFPD assisted a patient who had fallen on Elm St. TVEMS and the fire crew assisted the patient to a chair. There were no reported injuries.

BFPD responded with TVEMS and Berthoud Police to a medical call on Welch Ave. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, April 30

BFPD responded to a reported structure fire at K&K Painting on Bunyan Ave. Upon arrival there was smoke in the area. The fire crew investigated the building and found the smoke was coming from the chimney, which was from a sandblasting operation. The fire crew searched the rest of the building to verify that there were no other sources of smoke.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire at mile marker 249 on Interstate 25. The crew searched the area in both directions and nothing was found.

BFPD responded to a medical emergency at Berthoud Living Center. The call was cancelled while enroute.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. The call was cancelled enroute.
